Class of 2020 students awarded early college acceptances

Two of our class of 2020 students have had a fantastic start to the new year as they’ve just learned they have been accepted to their preferred colleges. We congratulate Vichheka and Vanndet who share their reflections below.

Vichheka ’20 has been awarded a scholarship to Gettysburg College, Pennsylvania, USA, where he will join another JPA student, Srey Nich ’16. He said, “I received the wonderful email from Gettysburg college early in the morning. I couldn’t believe my eyes that I had been accepted. I had to read and reread the letter over and over again, numerous times, trying to satisfy my mind that it was actually real. I screamed out with joy while telling my parents that I was accepted and going to college in the USA. We all shared one long, happy moment together as a family that morning. With this opportunity, I know that I have a lot of responsibility and will focus on sharpening myself even more to become the best student that I can be. I want to keep striving and don’t want to waste this amazing chance that I have been given. I want to major in mathematical economics. Thanks to everyone at JPA for all of your help.

JPA student Vanndet ’20 has been awarded a scholarship to Lafayette College, Pennsylvania, USA. Jay Pritzker Academy, Siem Reap, Cambodia. Jay-Pritzker-Academy-Siem-Reap-Cambodia.

Vanndet ’20 has been given a scholarship to Lafayette College, Pennsylvania, USA, where he will join another JPA student, Sophea ’18. He said, “To many people, I might not have seemed nervous about my application, but I was. Very nervous. My college counselors kept telling me that I was a strong candidate and that I would get in. However, I was not comforted, and wouldn’t be until I received an official admissions decision. After many restless weeks, it finally came. I’d been admitted! At that moment, I’m sure that I was the happiest person alive. I told everyone in my family and they were just as excited. Soon after, I received news that I had been awarded a financial aid package that will allow me to complete my college dream. I can’t wait to begin this new journey. Thanks to everyone at JPA who has helped me on this journey. I intend to major in civil engineering.

Thank you to all of the teachers and staff who have worked with these talented students over their entire school careers.
