The soccer club finished their work during the term with the ultimate test… a game against the staff. In a game watched by almost every student across the grades, the soccer team broke into halves to determine who would go on to face the staff team. After an exciting match that went to penalty kicks after a four-all draw, complete with head-butts, clever footwork, and more than a few throw-ins, the champions went on to their main event: the students versus the staff.
A grueling 20 minute game showed just how much the students had gained from their practice… and how much the staff had to learn. Rady from grade 9 showed some stunning goalie work, only allowing 1 goal in and saving many more. The staff however, allowed 2 (one from their own teammate) and fell just short of victory. It was an excellent event that brought the entire school together for a wonderful afternoon.

Five students and three teachers completed the 15th annual Angkor Wat International Race this past Sunday.
The students, participants in the extracurricular running club, began their training in September with the 9th Grade teacher.
They practiced 2-3 times a week by running on dirt roads around JPA and its surrounding villages.
Every student finished the 10 kilometer race in less than an hour, with the fastest student finishing in 46 minutes.
The students were thrilled at their success in the race and their running coach, Kim, was very proud of the hard work and dedication they put into their new form of exercise.

Teacher Kim and his 21 students from grade six to ten practiced their running along the Mechrey road that is located near JPA to prepare for the 10km marathon race in December.
On every Tuesday and Thursday after school, students go to run around the school and enter Tachet Village. The students looked very painful and exhausted, but they tried to persist to reach their goal. Even though, their uncontrolled sweat flowed all over their bodies, they didn’t care about that annoying transpiration.
Thoa Thany, a grade 10 student, said "I felt very tired and very hot, but I’m very proud of myself that I can run 4.8 km. In the future I would increase my speed."
Refer to Teacher Kim, he wishes that all students will finish the marathon contest at Angkor Wat area. He hopes that they encourage themselves to succeed at it. He also encourages them to keep trying to increase their speed and then they would be able to run 10km in December.

Soccer is very famous because there are a lot of students who joined in that activity. Teacher Tyler and Teacher Lucy are the coaches for this activity. They try their best to teach the students how to be great soccer players. They played on the big, grassy open field on Tuesday for the older students from grade 6-10 and on Thursday for the younger students from grades 2-5.
Playing soccer is very difficult, even though it seems like it’s easy, because it has a lot of steps and rules. During this activity both the students and the teachers are working very hard on what they concentrate on. The first thing that they are working on is that they are practicing how to kick the ball into the goal perfectly and also they must follow the rules. Some students said that they are feeling tired and sweat a lot but it’s also fun. After that they have a competition with other teams. Each team tried to kick a ball in the goal to get a score. While the older students from grade 6-10 were playing the teacher choose the best players to compete with other schools in the future. By the look of their faces they were very excited with all smiling faces that give us a clue that they love soccer very much.

Future musicians are practicing on how to sing together and warm up their voices. They will perform an incredible, marvelous show for the end of term 2 assembly which parents will also come to . Meanwhile, students are having such a wonderful time, and they feel so confident and joyful to perform. Two of the spectacular singers, Thida Kim and Nean Nathamon from Grade 6, exclaimed enthusiastically with excitement that they love to sing so much because it makes them feel relaxed, thrilled, and even comfortable after a long day of hard work and thinking.
Who knows what will they do next? Dance? Sing individually? No true answer can be known.
Everyone is looking forward to seeing the greatest performance ever in JPA of the skillful musicians!

Teacher Tracey, who was a leader of Art Club, taught her students how to mix colors to have lighter colors by mixing white with them. She explained about the value of color and how pictures affect the mood of people. Teacher Tracey said that she was very happy to teach the students on drawing and painting because it expresses the mood and showed about the history too.
One of her students named S. Sophea from Grade 7 said that she was very glad to be one of the students in Art Club because she can learn about the different colors mixed together and form different ones. She continued that before she just drew the draft pictures that didn’t represent anything and she didn’t know about the value of colors and how to mix colors.
One more student named P. Salin from Grade 10 said that she loved to draw and paint because she wants to be an artist and draw the most beautiful pictures in the world. She wanted to show all the people the new pictures that she had created from her imagination to make people figure out the meaning of her new pictures.

JPA students and staff celebrated their first annual Roald Dahl Day last week. September 13 marks the birthday of the beloved author of Matilda, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, The BFG, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as well as countless other children's classics.
JPA students were invited to a Saturday movie day full of movies created from Dahl’s work. Students came to see the books they already love come to life. The students were shocked when the books came to life even more: in the form of their teachers. Two Oompa Loompas joined Willy Wonka as Violet came to school, Mrs. Trunchbowl followed Miss Honey and Matilda, and other various characters from several books joined in as well.
Students also got a taste of Roald Dahl during lunch as they at "Fizzwiggling Wormy Spaghetti," "Bruce Bogtrotter Chocolate Cake," and "Fresh Mudburgers with Snozzcumbers," all from Dahl's books.
The first ever Roald Dahl Day celebrated at JPA was a complete success, as evidenced by the increased circulation of every Dahl book in the library and the joyous faces of students as they watched their favorite characters walk around campus.
